Fold your fabric piece in half and trace the pattern onto the waterproof outer and inner lining fabric. Cut out both pieces. Mark the snap or hook and loop and elastic placement now and apply the PUL backing strip.

Sew the soaker pad to the inner lining with a straight stitch.

Pin the inner and outer layers together around the edges. Starting at top front of the diaper, sew together fabrics with right sides together using a 1/2" seam allowance and a straight stitch, leaving an opening to turn the diaper right side in when you are done sewing.

Apply elastic to leg curves and back on the waterproof fabric. The elastic should be applied in the seam allowance on the outside of your straight stitch. Use a zig-zag or elastic stitch, stretching the elastic tight while sewing. I use a 2.5mm stitch length for applying elastic.

Beginning at the top section of the diaper (where socket snaps are placed) top stitch around the entire diaper, closing the opening at the top as you sew.

Be careful to not sew through the leg or back elastic.
